Statement from the Chester County Hero Fund Board of Directors
The Chester County Hero Fund Board of Directors is deeply saddened by the tragic line-of-duty death of Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., who was killed while conducting a traffic stop in West Caln Township.
Corporal O’Connor was a dedicated 15-year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the people of our community. In addition to his service as a state trooper, he also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the First West Chester Fire Company in West Chester, where he served alongside fellow members of the Chester County fire service.
He leaves behind his wife, young daughter, family members, friends, and fellow troopers who served alongside him. His loss is felt not only by the Pennsylvania State Police, but by first responders throughout Chester County who knew him, worked beside him, and shared in the mission of protecting our communities.
In the first responder community, we are all one family, and when one of our own is lost, the loss is felt by us all.
On behalf of the Chester County Hero Fund, we extend our deepest condolences to the O’Connor family, the Pennsylvania State Police, the members of the First West Chester Fire Company, and the entire first responder community during this incredibly difficult time.
The Chester County Hero Fund has already been in contact with the family and is providing immediate financial support and assistance as they begin to navigate the difficult days ahead. Supporting the families of first responders who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty is at the heart of the Hero Fund’s mission.
Our community mourns the loss of Corporal O’Connor, and we join our neighbors across Chester County in honoring his service and sacrifice.
In the months and years ahead, the Chester County Hero Fund will stand beside the O’Connor family and the Pennsylvania State Police family, just as our mission calls us to do.
Rest easy, Corporal. We have the watch from here.
