Coach Vermeil will be hosting a wine tasting of his vineyard’s wines on February 24, 2011, at Aneu (Meredith’s Bistro) in Berwyn, to raise funds for Corpsman Raffetto through the Chester County Hero Fund.

The Hero Fund congratulates each recipient and the FOP for recognized those officers and citizens throughout Chester County who stepped up in the protection of their fellow citizens.

Following the awards ceremony, the FOP presented the Chester County Hero Fund with two checks totaling over $12,500.00. The first check was presented by Rob Gilbert of the West Goshen Police Dept who chaired and organized the 2010 FOP Hero Run. The second check was presented by Ryan Scott of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, Lou Marcelli of East Whiteland Police Department and George Hill of the Willistown Police Department for the 2010 FOP/Hero Fund Golf Tournament. Also part of the Golf Tournament team was Steve Jones of the Willistown Police Department who was on duty and could not be there for the check presentation.

On behalf of the over 5000 first responders the Hero Fund represents, thank you to the Chester County FOP for another significant contribution. Since 2004, the Chester County FOP has donated over $40,000 to the Hero Fund. We cannot thank them enough.

Jason Wustner had surgery to address the injuries sustaining in a fall while fighting a two alarm fire in Malvern on December 9. Jay is expected home sometime soon. Jay Wustner was seriously injured at the 2 alarm fire in Malvern Borough. Jay was brought to the Jefferson University Hospital Trauma Center. He remains there with surgery for his injuries scheduled sometime next week.
Jay has a long recovery period ahead of him. The Chester County Hero Fund will be assisting Jay with his recovery. Please keep Jay in your thoughts and prayers.
